What does an Associate Director, Clinical Technology do at companies like PAREXEL?

The Associate Director (AD), Business Relationship Manager will act as the primary point of contact with the business partners and stakeholders served by the business area(s), ensuring full engagement and communication, resolution of general issues, and alignment of business and IT strategy for the business line. The person in this role has the overarching responsibility for providing strategic direction and vision developed with business partners. The AD, Business Relationship Manager will consider all aspects of providing the services or product spanning both development and application support working closely with IT group in those areas and enterprise architecture. S/he is not directly responsible for project delivery or application support but represents the combined vision and quality of the service provided to business partners working within a matrixed organization.

Key Accountabilities:
Relationship Management
  • Take total leadership responsibility for up to three Business area(s)
  • Develop a high-level IT vision for the Business area(s)
  • Develop the IT roadmap, and the establishment of governance, planning and prioritization processes
  • Design, develop, implement, and monitor Business Area roadmaps that consist of a multiyear plan including major programs, projects, upgrades, support levels, SLAs, service volumes, business capabilities, maintenance plans, and costs
  • Drive business case creation for executive approval of new initiatives
  • Proactively manage demand and prioritization
  • Monitor and stay current of technological, legal and operational changes that affect the product area and roadmap
  • Takes a leading role in product evaluations
Communication
  • The role will supplement other operating lines of communication by providing a comprehensive view of IT services and has overall accountability that communication is working.
  • Overall comprehensive communication with business partners and stakeholders
  • Organizational and relationship issue resolution with assistance of Senior Director / Director
  • Facilitation of regular communications and governance meetings
Delivery Oversight
  • Sequencing, structuring, and establishment of IT projects
  • Ongoing review and evaluation of services delivered
  • Support resolution of scope and other issues impacting delivery of projects
  • Balancing long and short goals, always considering long term impact
Business Relationships
  • Partner with and develop strong stakeholder relationships with business leaders. This includes working closely with business units and business owners on a global basis
  • Managing Vendor relationships
Virtual Team Leadership
  • Maintain a positive, results orientated work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to the team in an open, balanced and objective manner.
  • Oversee Business Analysts, ensuring project requirements align with planned project scope.

Knowledge and Experience:
  • Business facing and/or relationship management experience
  • Experience working with cross functional teams in the successful completion of assigned deliverables
  • Experience managing medium sized and mid-complex projects in a dynamic and technical environment
  • Experience in technology/software, project management, quality management, planning, customer service, and process improvement
  • Engaged with operations and project management lifecycle processes, procedures and tools
  • Lead and present technical information in face-to-face presentations to varied audiences; including executive management
  • Experience in working business process issues and implementing IT solutions
  • Knowledge of clinical trial processes and technologies related to Clinical Operations, Data Management, and Project Management.
  • Minimum 3 years in Relationship Management and/or Product Management roles
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Advanced degree in a relevant technical area (Information Systems/Technology Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Project Management (PMP), Relevant Business Area such as Accounting, Pharmacovigilance) or equivalent experience.
Language:
  • Native language and proficiency in verbal and written English.
