This role:

Personal Capital is seeking a full-time Payroll Administrator for its Accounting department in Redwood Shores. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing multi-state payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees as well as owning all aspects of payroll.  We are looking for a team player who is ready and eager to join a fast-paced start-up.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of payroll administration, time reporting, time off requests, taxes and garnishments
  • Review, audit, reconcile and update payroll prior to transmission to ensure pay and  tax calculations are accurate and in compliance with company policy, federal, state and local regulations
  • Responsible for payroll and related benefits account reconciliations, including preparing payroll journal entries, preparing PTO, bonus accruals and commission accruals, and loading 401K contribution files
  • Main point of contact for employee payroll/time off related questions
  • Complete written and verbal employee verifications
  • Prepare and electronically deliver monthly commission statements
  • Review and process expense reimbursements through Concur
  • Interface with auditors, providing information and documentation as required
  • Maintain and organize finance and payroll records
  • Research which payroll taxes are required and register for those states
  • Research and understand what is considered taxable income for any new state
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of experience with end to end payroll processing
  • Bachelor’s degree[AM4]  in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred 
  • Experience with Namely payroll system, Time Clock Plus or other time keeping software, Excel preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll, time reporting and other HR systems, processes, regulations, and policies
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented with excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills
