Position Summary


This position is responsible for growing the graduation rate of the College by actively promoting the mission of the College and by identifying alumnae/i and friends of the college to secure unrestricted and restricted gifts.  This position plays the key role in growing the College’s revenue by securing both unrestricted and restricted gifts to the college.


Position Scope

  • The Major Gift Officer is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts from alumnae/i and friends of Pine Manor College.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 125-150 qualified prospects with a minimum of 12-15 visits a month including both local and national travel.
  • Will work collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other advancement staff, and other College representatives to cultivate and solicit donors for college-wide priorities.
  • Monitors all prospect contacts and activities to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations.
  • Recommends and assists with programming involving the president, Senior leadership team and faculty.
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts.
  • Reports to the Vice President for College Advancement and works collaboratively and strategically with the College President, other fundraising professionals, faculty, and other campus leaders.
  • Achieve annual fundraising and face-to-face contact goals. 



  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Three to five years of successful experience in major gift fundraising in higher education or in non-profit community based organizations.  
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them and the college
  • Interest in and a dedication to promoting the college’s mission driven fundraising priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
  • Demonstrated experience in soliciting and closing major gifts.
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments.
  • Must be willing to travel and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to work in a fast paced, results oriented environment.
  • Proven communication skills, (writing and speaking) are essential for this position.
  • Positive Attitude and a sense of humor
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office and using fundraising databases such as Salesforce or Raisers Edge.
