Information Technologies Technician in our IT Department.
The
Information Technologies Technician maintains Agency hardware, software, and assists users with questions and training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are standard for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Assists with user implementation of computer systems; provides user training; prepares the system, program and user documents.
Assists end users with resolving operating system, desktop application, hardware, telecommunication, network, and Active Directory related problems.
Solves user problems related to data and suggests alternative methods of operation.
Coordinates with outside service providers in resolving technical issues.
Performs hardware/software installation and maintenance; reconfigures hardware/software as approved.
Collects, monitors and analyzes data to assist with troubleshooting and planning.
Maintains IT fixed asset inventory list and manages IT asset disposals.
Assists in the development and management of the IT equipment replacement schedule.
Assists in the development of the department goals.
Administers Agency IT Help Desk System.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have college level courses in information systems with two years operational experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Information Technologies is desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), and/or Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications highly desired. Must possess a valid non-restricted California driver's license.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of communication hardware and software. Knowledge of on-line programming and development. Knowledge of computer operating methods, languages, and procedures. Knowledge of principles of computer systems such as LAN hardware and software, procedures analysis and design. Knowledge of principles and techniques of complex data processing and programming documentation. Knowledge of record storage and handling techniques. Knowledge of current Microsoft desktop and server operating systems. Knowledge of Office 365. Ability to read, interpret and apply complex technical publications, manuals and other documentation. Ability to diagnose complex hardware, software, and network problems. Ability to train or instruct on-line users in the use of computer equipment and operating procedures. Ability to gather, organize and analyze statistical data.
