We currently have an opening for a full time Admissions Coordinator at our Dallas hospital.

The Admissions Coordinator exists to attend to telephone inquiries from patients, Case Managers, Physicians, Social Workers and outside agencies.  Processes financial clearance prior to admissions by contacting insurance carrier, thereby assuring payment before patients are admitted.  Assists in maintaining the Admissions Department on a daily basis.  Coordinates activities with other departments as needed and participates in other related organizational activities.

Employees in this position will:

1. Attend to telephone inquiries from patients, case manager, physicians, and outside agencies. Explains the Pre-Admission process.
2. Assists in overseeing the workflow in relation to Pre-Admissions and supervises the department requested.
3. Receives faxed referrals and ensures they are reviewed and medically approved by a Baylor Rehab physician.
4. Contacts insurance carriers to confirm coverage, verify benefits, and obtain authorization/pre-certification to ensure reimbursement.
5. Verifies Medicare/Medicaid on passport and prints out verification.
6. Notifies referring hospital case manager of decision and schedules admissions.
7. Enters patient data into the HMS scheduling menu and details of patient’s benefits and billing instructions into Global notes.
8. Maintains a referral database in Lotus Notes.
9. Prepares an Advance Notification Spreadsheet with a list of scheduled admissions for the day and emails list to appropriate departments.
10. Keeps supervisor informed of progress or problems.
11. Cross-trained to interview, register, and admit a patient into the facility.
12. Provides tours for families of prospective patients.
13. Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Abilities (including licensure, certification and other job-related credentials)

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing a broad range of duties with and Admissions or Pre-Admissions Department required.
3. Previous experience within a physical rehabilitation setting preferred.
4. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and relate ideas effectively with staff members, supportive personnel, management staff, third party payers, patients, and physicians.
5. Must have strong skills in computer equipment and software, detailed documentation, problem-solving and excellent customer service.
