What does an Mental Health Social Worker do at companies like STATE OF MICHIGAN?

Provides comprehensive mental health social work services to patients within Duane L. Waters and C-Unit.  Coordinates patient care across disciplines with other members of the health care team to insure desired outcomes, quality care and cost efficient  use of resources.  Completes patient assessments, provides brief individual counseling, facilitates groups and discusses concerns with prisoners, builds relationships, provides discharge planning and contact with families and outside agencies as needed.
 
This position works 100% of the time in the secure area of Duane Waters Hospital and C-Unit.  This position is test designated for drugs and alcohol.
 
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in social work or possession of a bachelor's degree in social services, social psychology, or sociology with a concentration in social work.
 
Experience
 
Mental Health Social Worker 9
No specific type or amount is required.
 
Mental Health Social Worker 10
One year of professional experience providing case coordination services equivalent to a Mental Health Social Worker 9.
 
Mental Health Social Worker P11
Two years of professional experience providing case coordination services equivalent to a Mental Health Social Worker, including one year equivalent to a Mental Health Social Worker 10.
 
Mental Health Social Worker 12
Three years of professional experience providing case coordination services equivalentto a Mental Health Social Worker, including one year equivalent to a Mental HealthSocial Worker P11.
Mental Health Social Worker 9
Eligibility for license by the Michigan Board of Examiners of Social Workers as a social work technician, or as a social worker is required at the time of appointment.
 
Mental Health Social Worker 10-12
License by the Michigan Board of Examiners of Social Workers as a social work technician, or as a social worker is required at the time of appointment.
