Position Overview:

The Audio Visual Technician and Support is an integral member of a team that creates media projects and coordinates the museum’s daily audiovisual operations, ensuring that all audiovisual spaces meet the evolving needs of general and event visitors to deliver the highest level of customer service and experiences. 


The position requires a full-time (40 hours per week) commitment including one weekend day and occasional evening programs and events. Position requires availability via cell phone both on-site and during non-core hours including some evenings, weekends, and holidays for urgent support 


Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and enforces technology policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Attends and actively contributes to weekly event meetings
  • Attending internal organization meetings for information gathering for program support, creation and execution
  • Keeping up-to-date with content production equipment
  • Provides efficient and effective support to the entire AV user community
  • meeting and liaising with departments to discuss briefs, requirements, and project progress
  • Making technical and content recommendations
  • Keeping up-to-date with technological and software developments
  • Utilizes Final Cut, Photoshop, In Design, Premier, and After Effects (a plus)
  • Supports AV set-up for programs and events weekly, after hours and weekends when needed

Stewardship and Customer Focus

  • Acts as an Ambassador and actively shares information within area communities to raise awareness of the museum and to drive visitation.
  • Proactively identifies and leverages expertise and resources to create win-win community partnerships.

Requirements

Required Education and/or Certification:

  • College degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in computer systems operations, customer service environment, experience in educational program development and facilitation.
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
  • Scissor Lift certification (provided by the museum).

Minimum Experience/Skills:

  • Two-year College Degree or technical school and six months to one-year related experience
  • Proven experience and skills with all or some of the following hardware and systems or comparable hardware/systems: 
  • Watchout, Medialon, DaVinciAudio systems, Tandberg videoconferencing, Wall-mounted ToteVision displays, ChyTV system
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual a plus; Focus on consistently providing quality customer service to visitors or internal clients; strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with staff, visitors, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solving skills; proven ability to recommend and implement improvements.
  • Team-focused approach. Ability to negotiate, accommodate and collaborate with others toward a common goal.
  • Sensitive to diversity including individuals with special needs.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver equipment, materials up to 50 pounds; operate and load/unload museum vehicles; kneel, walk, and ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Willingness to operate scissor lift to adjust gallery lighting, maintain equipment.
  • Professional maturity, self-directed, and the ability to quickly predict or analyze and respond to customer service issues.
