JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, procures in the most cost effective manner products and services in accordance with approved guidelines and polices. Maintains the overall receiving, stocking and distribution duties adhering to all requirements of the USPI Materials Management Policy and Procedure Manual.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of this job description include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a unit work environment that reflects USPI’s EDGE™, performance improvement and customer service program consistent with the Corporation’s Mission Statement.

• Maintains adequate inventory levels by checking shelves and automated inventory system and establishes par levels for all supplies.

• Ensures utilization of USPI national agreements.

• Accurate ordering and on-time deliveries of supplies and equipment using the facility procurement system while adhering to USPI processes and procedures.

• Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure proper placement, follow up and delivery of orders.

• Interacts with sales representatives resolving issues and problems related to supplies or the delivery of supplies.

• Establishes and maintains proper document flow and information updates for the automated inventory system.

• Receives all incoming supply and equipment items.

• Checks supply dated items and regularly rotates stock.

• Implements and maintains all facets of the automated inventory system.

• Conducts quarterly physical inventory of implants and inventory items.

• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost conscious manner, complying with all USPI’s polices, procedures and regulations.

Exhibits appropriate quality service behaviors in meeting and/or exceeding the needs of departmental customers, co-workers and others they encounter as representative of USPI.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High School graduate or equivalent.

• 6+ month’s medical purchasing/buying experience.

• Knowledge of computer inventory management systems, various software programs and medical products.

• Working knowledge of stocking and storing medical and non-medical supplies.

• Effective oral and written communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

OTHER:

Appropriately uses USPI revenues to improve or enhance service and patient care.
