Our first product, Loop™ At-Shelf Maker Stories, is a network of tablets in grocery stores that play short, human-centric films connecting producer to consumer. The data generated by Loop™ fuels our proprietary storytelling process, forming a flywheel we believe will one day power the world’s most sophisticated platform for human-centric point-of-decision video.

Position Summary

The Head of Retail Operations is responsible for managing all physical components of Loop™, our in-store tablet network. Our current team has done a phenomenal job building a strong foundation as we’ve worked our way toward product-market fit, but as we enter a season of accelerated growth, we need someone with deeper retail operations experience who can establish the partnerships and processes that will enable us to scale 10-20x over the next few years.

This role consists of three primary functions. These functions are listed below, along with the key responsibilities and projected time allocation associated with each.

  1. New Retailer Launches: 50%
  2. Existing Retailer Program Management: 30%
  3. Consumer Experience: 20%

New Retailer Launches (50%)

  • Establish partnerships and processes that will enable Loop™ to scale to 10k stores, with particular attention to:
    • Supply chain (tablets, installation materials, signage, etc.)
    • Installation (electrical, tablets, custom fixtures, etc.)
    • Maintenance (tablets, fixtures, signage, etc.)
  • Coordinate with Retail Sales team to launch new retail pilots and rollouts, which will include owning relationships with the retailer’s Store Ops and Facilities teams

Existing Retailer Program Management (30%)

  • Ensure 90%+ program execution through the development of cohesive retailer and supplier communications
  • Work with Engineering to maintain 99%+ uptime for deployed devices, resolving maintenance issues within Looma’s 48-hour SLA (usually same-day)
  • Maintain financial projections for the Retail Operations team

Consumer Experience (20%)

  • Test and execute in-store experience improvements in collaboration with the Marketing and Consumer Experience departments
  • Contribute to the future vision of Looma’s product portfolio

Attributes

  • Ridiculously strong project manager — a given retailer launch may have 100 steps, and this hire needs to be able to manage multiple simultaneously
  • Superb partnership builder — as we scale, we will rely more and more on external partners; excellent sourcing, negotiation, and management of these partnerships is critical
  • Technically savvy — able to stitch various technical processed together, and capable of communicating well with Engineering
  • Able to ratchet tech / startup vibe up or down as necessary (i.e. up when presenting to the retailer’s innovation dept. and down when working with their preferred electrician) — and genuinely enjoys the diversity of these interactions
  • Able to toggle between multiple levels of granularity with ease
  • Grocery experience preferred but not required
  • Based in RDU preferred, though we'll consider strong applicants who are not

Structure & Compensation

Looma will provide a competitive package consisting of base and variable cash compensation as well as equity. Candidates of the caliber we are seeking will likely need to trade some cash for equity.
