The St. James is seeking looking for a Director of Finance & Accounting to join its Finance & Accounting team at its flagship location in Springfield, Virginia.

The Director of Finance & Accounting is primarily responsible for developing, modeling and implementing the short and long term business and financial strategy for The St. James in order to meet or exceed financial and operational performance. The position will report directly to the CFO and will provide critical input on strategic, financial and operational direction. This position will drive and champion process improvement efforts to support the profitable growth of the business.
Responsibilities:
Leading and directing all financial forecasting; including the periodic budgeting and forecasting processes inclusive of yearly budgeting, seasonal and monthly forecasting.
Evaluating results within business units to determine if financial objectives are being met.
Developing financial strategies, financial performance metrics, as well as financial control systems to mitigate risk.
Understanding all profitability components (e.g., units, proprietary brands, ecommerce).
Managing the capital expenditure process from analysis of requests, approval of spending, and tracking results.
Supporting the CFO on long term financial strategy.
Identifying reporting needs and overseeing the development and deployment of periodic and ad hoc reporting.
Ensuring highest level of compliance, quality and ethics.
Qualifications:
MBA or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting
10+ years of progressive finance experience including FP&A experience
Ability to develop relationships across senior leadership team in order to gain trust and influence decision making
Ability to lead with integrity and serve as an effective change agent
Knowledge of accounting, financial, inventory, and payroll systems required
Strong strategic / budget development, planning, and analytical ability
Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Demonstrated success in process improvement and technology implementations in financial and accounting functions
Multi-store retail, ecommerce, and consumer goods experience preferred
Ability to interpret, communicate and present financial information in a clear and concise manner
