The Patient Access Specialist handles inbound and outbound scheduling communications for patients. These communications involve a wide-range of clinical and administrative requests from patients and other stakeholders, including online chats, text messaging, emails, faxes, and telephone requests.
The Patient Access Specialist must be well versed in utilizing advanced information technology to process communications in a professional manner. Patient Access Specialists use pre-defined clinical protocols to obtain and document required information for appointment coordination and to proactively identify and communicate any additional patient needs, as well as any significant care and wellness gaps.
