Waypoint Real Estate Investments is growing!  We are adding a Property Accountant to our team in Atlanta, GA.  Our Property Accountant will be responsible for performing general accounting functions for the firms growing portfolio of residential real estate.

What you will do:

  • Prepare monthly and year to date financial statements including balance sheet schedules, and bank account and lender statement reconciliations
  • Review the general ledger and prepare journal entries for capitalization, depreciation, amortization, reclassifications, accruals and other types of entries.
  • Review entity and general ledger account coding prior to posting accounts payable batches
  • Prepare variance analysis and include the review of any internal operational or third party prepared reports.
  • Calculate and pay monthly management fees and distributions
  • Ensure timely payment of all debt service, property taxes, and utilities
  • Work with Property managers, Regional managers, and Asset Managers, Development and Acquisition professionals to ensure accounting information accurately and completely reflects property activity in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Monitor and periodically prepare reimbursement requests to the lender for repairs, replacements and other escrows
  • Abstract, prepare, and submit periodic reports to meet lender compliance requirements
  • Assist auditors in performing year-end audits of financial statements
  • Prepare footnote and other disclosures as part of financial reporting
  • Analyze and interpret operating and financial information regarding profitability, capital expenditures, and performance against budget.
  • Maintain adequate internal controls to help achieve company objectives according to Company policies & procedures
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by keeping current on changes in accounting standards (U.S. GAAP) and reporting practices.
  • Assist with the implementation of system upgrades and modules

 What you will need:

  • Degree in Accounting and / or Finance
  • GAAP, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and general accounting experience
  • 4-7 years in similar Property Accounting role; Proven experience within multifamily assets a  plus
  • Yardi proficiency
  • Strong Cash management, forecasting and planning experience
  • Ability to read, interpret and present financial statements
