POSITION DESCRIPTION
Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library seeks a skilled and team-oriented Store Manager who provides visitors with an outstanding experience and the highest level of customer service. Working as part of an energetic and collaborative team, the Store Manager contributes to Winterthur’s mission to “build upon the vision of Henry Francis du Pont to inspire and educate through its collections, estate, and academic programs by engaging diverse audiences in the study, preservation, and interpretation of American material culture, art, design, and history.”
Winterthur is looking to expand its mission and visitor experience by reimaging its Museum Store. The museum’s retail program currently includes an on-site and e-commerce site.
We seek a dynamic and experienced Manager to curate and build a selection of merchandise that feels distinct and successfully translates Winterthur’s mission, values, voice, and visual identity in product offerings, packaging, and POS. In addition, the Store Manager will supervise and lead an Assistant Manager and team of Sales Associates in a proactive and welcoming approach to sharing Winterthur with our guests.
This role will be accountable for meeting financial targets for sales, establishing the budget, and merchandising a 1,000 sq. ft. space. The Store Manager will perform inventory management, product display, analysis of weekly finances, and data reporting.
The Store Manager has an unprecedented opportunity to work directly with artists and designers to produce exclusive limited editions and to stock new products that expand Winterthur’s mission. A goal of the retail program is to expand the Winterthur experience for visitors on-site and online by connecting and collaborating with educators, interpreters, curators, gardens team, events, marketing and technology, and exhibition staff. The Store Manager will curate and select an engaging and eclectic selection of scholarly and popular books and objects that will make the Museum Store as vibrant a destination as the institution itself.
Responsibilities
Compensation: $50,000–$54,000, commensurate with experience
