Manages shipping operations' daily activities, including order processing, inventory tracking, documentation, and transportation oversight. Being a Shipping Manager investigates and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims. Ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. In addition, Shipping Manager develops and maintains relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Shipping Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.
