Job Description

The Chief Systems Architect creates the strategy, design, and vision of the entire systems architecture function. Oversees all aspects of the architectural design, development, and deployment of an organization's overall IT systems. Being a Chief Systems Architect evaluates system solutions based on user needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms. Ensures that systems are designed to consider functional requirements, scalability, and security. In addition, Chief Systems Architect identifies and researches potential technology products to enhance solution delivery. Develops strategies and policies to meet overall business goals. Collaborates with vendors or third-party service providers to negotiate and acquire essential software/hardware to maintain systems architecture. May require a master's degree. Typically reports to Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Chief Systems Architect manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact. Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given major function or line of business.
