Head of Technology Delivery

Location: Edinburgh, Witham, Peterborough, or London (typically 3 days in the office per week, 2 from home)
Salary: £82,800 - £124,200 depending on the experience you can bring

The Technology Delivery organisation is responsible for technology and delivery for Retail, Workplace and Customer Care Value Streams, alongside the wider portfolio consisting of Regulatory, Finance, People and Information Security related projects.
To drive continuous improvement to the delivery process and provide focus on the outcome for our customers, we are now looking for a Head of Technology to join us. You will push the boundaries of innovation in technology to make Aegon the Leading Digital Platform whilst providing Technology focused Programme and Project Delivery Leadership.
You will be responsible for knowing the status of each project in the portfolio, the financials and the associated risks with our programme of work, whilst also being involved in day-to-day project delivery, communicating with stakeholders and initiative owners. You will help teams to improve pace of delivery by helping to remove blockers and driving efficiency.
Whilst also using your experience to guide project delivery safely, you will:
- Improve the Technology organisational delivery capabilities through effective leadership and coaching.
- Embed a culture for efficient delivery within technology, driving a mindset shift across technology and the wider organisation, drive removal of inefficiencies and impediments.
- Communicate to stakeholders and technology teams for technology deliveries, highlighting challenges early including better utilisation of RAG for communication of project trends.
- Provide challenge and recommendations to overall portfolio delivery plan, ensuring flow of work is commensurate with team sizes and ability to execute.
- Support a collaborative and inclusive culture for delivery within Technology and across the wider organisation.
- Work with Global Technology on improved usage of project tools – such as JIRA and Project Delivery toolset
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience and understanding of enterprise portfolio technology delivery
- A technical background understanding of Cloud platforms, solutions and frameworks and knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques:
- The passion to drive teams forward with a positive and infectious enthusiasm and lives and breathes Agile, having motivation to plan and organise a team to ensure software is delivered to the highest quality.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills, being result driven and appreciate that returning value to the business is the ultimate goal.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and get technologists to understand business drivers.
