Senior Planner (Civils) with experience working within Civil Engineering projects and would you be interested in joining our team
The Role
As a Senior Planner - Civils, your role will be pivotal in guiding the development and execution, utilising your expertise throughout both the pre-construction and construction phases. Your ability to navigate civil engineering project complexities will be essential in delivering high-quality results.
You will be conversant in civil engineering project methods, sequencing and outputs, and various planning software tools, which includes project schedule development, baselining, progress measurement, maintenance, and analysis for both internal and external stakeholders. You will ensure that all schedules comply with client requirements, company planning procedures, contract conditions, while also maintaining safe working practices. Be able to summaries the programme using infographics such as time shift charts;
Here as some of the activities you will be involved in:
- Collaborate with the Estimators, commercial team and construction managers to establish, update, and maintain efficient and effect project programmes.
- Produce tender programmes which aim to produce the most efficient and effective programme of works in accordance with the design, specification and scope of works;
- Produce summary programmes, reports and charts to communicate the programme logic at all levels and with company presentations;
- Liaise with Clancy, client teams, subcontractors, and suppliers on planning matters.
- Assess resource needs based on programme workloads, providing regular reports.
- Resource and cost load the programme's where necessary.
- Prepare programme and progress reports, attending planning and operational meetings.
- Develop and maintain master execution schedules and major work package schedules.
- Produce baseline schedules and obtain stakeholder approvals.
- Track progress against baselines and previous versions.
- Communicate project priorities to management, engineering, and other functions.
- Integrate subcontractor schedules, ensuring project compliance.
- Implement progress measurement and reporting systems.
- Track change, and analyse critical, and non-critical project paths.
- Mentor and coach the team.
- Produce programmes in accordance with the requirements, conditions, and procedures.
- Drive and work with the site team in proving solutions to ensure delivery on time.

Previous senior or lead planning experience is required, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent organisational skills, and ensure tasks are completed correctly the first time, adhering to project protocols. Capable of delivering to tight deadlines.
Experience in developing schemes from pre-construction to construction within civil engineering is essential, along with the programming requirements knowledge of NEC 3 or other contracts. As is commercial awareness and understanding the financial impact of site-based activities are essential.
You have extensive skills in be able to plan using your knowledge and experience in general construction methods, outputs and sequences as well use various software planning tools, such as such as Primavera P6, CSP, Asta Powerproject, Microsoft Project. Experience with major contractors is beneficial.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to build trust within the project team and thrive under pressure.
A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel between sites is essential.
