About the role
We are looking for an experienced HR/People Advisor to join our People team here at ARO.
In this role, you will provide generalist HR support to the group, helping to shape our employee journey.
You will be responsible for maintaining excellent employee relations and will work with senior stakeholders and the wider people team across a range of HR activities including organisational development, change management, talent management, performance management, employee communications and engagement.
As our HR/People Advisor, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters. Your primary focus will be on promoting positive working relationships, resolving conflicts, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of HR policies and practices
Please note that this is a Hybrid role with onsite requirement 2 -3 days a week. You must be able to commute to the office and have your own transport.
What you’ll do
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations matters, including policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Investigate and resolve employee complaints and grievances, ensuring fair and impartial handling of cases in a timely manner.
- Conduct thorough and objective investigations into employee relations issues, gathering relevant information and conducting interviews as necessary.
- Collaborate with managers to address performance-related issues and develop appropriate corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with People Partners across our Business Units for support on complex people matters
- Mediate and facilitate discussions between employees and management to resolve conflicts and improve working relationships.
- Working closely with the wider People Team, assist in the development and implementation of employee relations policies, procedures, and practices in alignment with employment laws and ARO values
- Ownership of our Employee Handbook.
- Stay updated with employment laws and regulations, providing guidance to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
- Provide coaching and training to managers on effective employee relations practices, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Develop and deliver employee relations training programs to enhance understanding and awareness among employees.
- Analyse employee relations data and trends to identify areas of improvement and recommend proactive solutions.
- Support the implementation of disciplinary procedures and processes, ensuring consistency and fairness in their application.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations documentation and records.
- Assist in other People-related projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Provide cover for payroll management to cover annual leave/sickness
What we are looking for?
Essential
- Previous experience in a People/HR advisor role
- Strong knowledge of human resources and employment law
- CIPD qualified to at least level 3
- Confidentiality and able to work in a discreet and responsible way
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use own initiative
- Patience and ability to remain calm under stressful situations
- Ability to motivate and manage people
- Able to champion our engagement strategy and key People initiatives

Desirable
- CIPD qualified to level 5
