The post holder would be expected to lead the clinical
pharmacy service in the Surgery and Anaesthetic
services in providing responsible, safe and costeffective prescribing within the networks to:
- Optimise patient outcomes
- Minimise adverse reactions
- Improve medicines safety
The post also helps to deliver the broader Medicines Optimisation and Governance Strategy across the Trust. These outcomes will be achieved primarily through leadership of clinical staff, and the publication
and implementation of guidelines and procedures to encourage best practice.

The post holder will support the Associate Directors of
Pharmacy, Deputy Heads of Pharmacy at Newham University Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital and Highly Specialist Pharmacists within the team to manage the professional, clinical and technical input of pharmacy into the Surgical and Critical Care directorate at both hospitals and provide professional support for the pharmacy surgery and anaesthetic teams across the trust.
