The Cambian Group are on the lookout for a reliable, friendly individual with a can-do-attitude to assist with the driving aspects of our Children’s Residential Care Worker role within the Wisbech and Peterborough region. No two days will be the same in this diverse role. You will be responsible for driving our children and staff to multiple locations throughout the day alongside any additional duties required such as car maintenance and domestic help within the home when all driving duties have been met. You will be self-motivated, able to build good rapport with the children and personable with the ability to work as a team and as an individual. You will be expected to drive our company cars and minibuses provided and will have a clean manual UK license and at least one-year experience driving.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To attend for work reliably and punctually.
To attend any training as required and take part in a positive manner.
To know where Cambian policies are kept and to be aware of and follow their contents.
To carry out all duties as instructed in a safe, timely, professional and courteous manner
To play a full part in building good relationships with the children and staff
To carry out monitoring of maintenance requirements and provide admin team with records.
To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and that of others in the vehicle.
To identify defects and damage and promptly report these to the site maintenance manager.
To deal with emergencies if they should occur while out on the road.
To ensure the security of the vehicles.
To carry out, as and when required, any additional duties and responsibilities as are reasonably compatible with this job description and deemed appropriate by your employer in the interests of the company. Examples, running errands, pickups, deliveries, house-keeping if no driving is necessary.
By carrying out these responsibilities well, you will be helping to provide the best possible quality of care for the young people who live with us.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of vehicle safety requirements within the law
Knowledge of general health and safety requirements in the workplace
Ability to attend work punctually and reliably
Ability to follow rota
Ability to carry out basic maintenance checks and record findings
Ability to check tyre inflation pressures, oil levels, screen wash levels and keep within safe limits
Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff whilst working in a busy environment
Ability to follow laid down procedures as well as willingness to suggest changes to improve systems
Ability to lift and move objects in line with H&S guidelines
Ability to communicate effectively, including ability to complete reports
Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality
Experience and Requirements:
Have worked with children or a care setting previously (preferable)
You must be over 21 years old
You must be able to attend a two-week training programme (fully funded by us)
No criminal record
Current, clean UK driving license
Experience of driving a variety of vehicles
Experience of working as part of a team
