You will support the EHV Connections Design Team Manager to prepare and delivery quality EHV (up to and including 132kV) technical engineering solutions for large customer driven schemes.

The successful candidate will be accountable for:
The preparation and successful authorisation of Investment Appraisal Documents for customer driven applications seeking connection onto the EHV networks
Work with other business units to develop/implement smart solutions for our customers
Represent Northern Powergrid on industry working groups
Liaise directly with representatives of key stakeholders e.g. Network Rail
Liaise with NGESO/NGET for Project Progressions and Modification Applications.
Proactively identify improvements to our engineering policy & business processes working closely with all business units
Management of the customer experience for all technical aspects relating to their EHV connection solutions
Ensure all EHV designs meet appropriate policies & regulatory requirements
Maintain/improve the quality and timeliness of designs within the Guaranteed Standards framework
Complete the post acceptance elements of customer driven work including stability studies and interface with customers accordingly
Key Competencies
Technically adept in aspects of EHV (up to 132kV) network design
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Communication - able to communicate in an effective and persuasive manner
Customer service - able to deliver effective customer service, both internally and externally
Teamwork - able to work with others in a flexible manner
IT skills – able to use a variety of software to produce electrical designs and update databases
Qualifications And Attributes
Essential Qualifications and Experience
HNC/HND/B.Sc. in Electrical Power Engineering or relevant discipline Full UK driving license
Experience using Microsoft Office packages and power system modelling software
Knowledge of electrical power distribution networks
Experience organising and managing multiple projects
Report writing skills
Functional specification writing skills
Desirable Qualifications And Experience
Master's degree in electrical or power system engineering
System modelling and power flow analysis using IPSA, Powerfactory, or similar
Experience in producing technical reports and financial appraisal documents
Operational experience up to and including 132kV
Switchgear and plant specifications
Network design experience at 33/66/132kV
