Main duties of the job

We are seeking a dedicated Mental Health Practitioner to join our dynamic team. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and risk assessments
  • Collaborate with clients and families to develop personalised treatment plans
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking mental health assessments and accurately risk assessing risk to self, others, and from others
  • Formulating and hypothesising with the client and family
  • Sharing formulation with the MDT
  • Providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to less complex cases
  • Supporting the wider team with duties
  • Participating in team meetings
  • Working alongside psychiatry, psychology, nurses, creative therapists, social workers
  • Participating in opportunities to learn and develop

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified in a core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional) and Professional Registration with a recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England)
  • Experience in providing mental health therapy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Qualified in a core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional)
  • Professional registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England)
Desirable criteria
  • Psychology or other mental health related undergraduate degree
  • Nationally recognised postqualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to the core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional).

Knowledge and Expertise

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of child psychology and development
  • Demonstrates an understanding of young people’s anxiety and depression and how it may present
  • Demonstrate an understanding of parenting and behaviour management interventions
  • Demonstrates a knowledge of the impact of multisystemic issues such as home, school and community.
  • Knowledge of child protection issues, safeguarding and other relevant legislation
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological and systemic therapies and how it relates to this post

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of safeguarding vulnerable people
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Experience of working in a mental health and/or CYP setting
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of working in the local community
  • Experience of routine outcome monitoring
