Three Rivers Recruitment has been engaged by a manufacturer in the construction industry to recruit a dedicated and experienced Estimator. The Role
As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate pricing and smooth delivery of projects from tender through to handover. This position suits someone with experience in the construction sector, particularly in one or more of the following disciplines: Facades, Light Gauge Steel Framing (LGSF), Cladding & Roofing, Load bearing Structures, Partitions, Hot Rolled Steel, or Dry Lining.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately quantify the materials required for each project, including steel and associated ancillary items.
Prepare and negotiate tender submissions, ensuring all client documentation is thoroughly reviewed to provide precise estimates and quotations.
Perform quantity take-offs from drawings, using both 3D modelling software and manual methods.
Develop tender prices from first principles, considering scope, plans, specifications, and project timelines.
Advise clients on potential cost implications and variations due to design changes, and suggest value engineering opportunities.
Collaborate closely with sales, design, and commercial teams to ensure a seamless handover and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist in preparing reports and documents for internal management and board meetings.
Continuously seek to improve estimating processes and enhance commercial operations.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience Required:
A minimum of an HNC in Construction (a full honours degree in a construction-related discipline is ).
Proven experience in estimating, ideally within the Light Gauge Steel Framing industry.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
Experience with project programming software such as Microsoft Project is advantageous.
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with clients, colleagues, and suppliers.
