Job title: HVAQ Engineer

Salary: £40,478 – £45,000 (Dependent on experience)
What You’ll Be Doing
- You will develop functional engineering solutions that meet a complex array of cross-functional interactions and requirements
- Engaging with suppliers to develop and capture equipment and component specifications that meet the challenging demands of the product
- Working directly with new customers to develop requirements and acceptance criteria based on operational scenarios, use cases and other design considerations
- Performing and reviewing engineering calculations and analysis to make design decisions and demonstrate system performance
- Develop the package of design evidence required to justify a safe, effective design and generate customer confidence in the design solution
- Co-ordinating, managing and leveraging a wide stakeholder base to solve complex engineering problems and make responsible engineering decisions
Your Skills And Experiences
- Educated to Degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science Subjects, working towards Chartership
- Experience with HVAC or Cooling Systems
- Experience in the design and development of Mechanical Systems, ideally within Defence or Marine Engineering sectors
- Design documentation with the ability to present these to customers and wider groups
- Solving complex calculations relating to fluid flows and heat transfer
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, finite element analysis (FEA), Matlab, Flomaster and other relevant engineering tools
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

The Mechanical HVAQ Team
In this role you will be within a growing group of 50 professional engineers with an integrated delivery team of over 120 people. You have the opportunity to join an elite team for pioneering cutting-edge HVAC and life support systems for next- nuclear submarines, including the SSN AUKUS project, with direct contributions to the safety and efficiency of the world’s most advanced underwater vessels. Responsibilities include integrating crucial environmental control and crew life support systems, driving innovation in HVAC technologies, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and collaborating with cross-funtional teams, including the Ministry of Defence, as well as and international manufacturers.
Development opportunities both through funded training, online training material and coaching will be afforded to you as well as opportunities to develop your own leaderships skills through mentoring junior engineers. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria
