The Project and Engineering Manager is a key position within the operations department for Aggregates. This position will be responsible for managing the initiation and implementation of major CapEx projects, adhering to CCM and CCR project management guidelines as well as driving specific CI initiatives (OpEx).

The Project and Engineering Manager will utilise common high standards of engineering and project management ensuring that CCM and CCR project management guidelines and Design Criteria are understood and used. The Project and Engineering Manager will take personal responsibility for selected individual projects as project manager.

The main activity of the role is to deliver CapEx and CI projects on time, to budget and in a safe way. The Project and Engineering Manager should be involved in these projects from inception, through feasibility assessments to implementation and conclusion.

Key accountabilities of the role will include:

• Health and Safety: ensuring that projects adhere to the highest level of health and safety objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials’s Health and Safety Plan.
• Environmental and sustainability: Ensure that all environmental impacts are considered discussed and mitigated by an effective environmental management plans. Liaise with the land and planning department to ensure all proposal are in line with regulatory requirements
• Stakeholder management: Ensure all affected stakeholders, including central functions and business line management, are engaged through use of a stakeholder management plan on each project. Provide regular updates and review to ensure ongoing engagement and cooperation from all parties.
• Project Performance: projects are clearly defined and set up from the start in line with CCM and CCR guidance.
• Clear and regular reporting through to the project SterCo.
• Project organization, budgets, timelines and objectives (through up-front feasibility studies) are met. Post project reviews are undertaken to understand and distribute learnings.
• Resource Planning: Ensure the project teams are adequately resourced and that personnel are trained and developed to ensure project can be delivered within required timeframe.
• Compliance: Ensure all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to with respect to all current and proposed operational activities.

Key Performance Indicators:

• Clear project team setup and SterCos in line with CCM and CCR guidance
• Project timelines are clearly defined, and project milestones are met on time
• Project budgets are clearly defined, and projects delivered within agreed budgets
• Project objectives are met
• Post project reviews are undertaken
