Overview:
Team Leader
Humdinger, Sherburn in Elmet
Humdinger are seeking a new Team Leader to help lead and inspire our production team. As a Team Leader, you will report into one of Humdinger's Shift Managers, and help to coordinate your shift to ensure we can deliver the daily production plan and targets. This is a role were you will need to develop excellent relationships, role-model behaviors in relation to food safety, health & safety and product quality, as well as support with team training and development.
You will work the following in 3 week blocks:
Week 1: Sunday to Tuesday 18:00 - 06:00 (3 nights followed by 5 days off)
Week 2: Monday to Tuesday 06:00 - 18:00 & Wednesday to Thursday 18:00 - 06:00 (2 days followed by 2 nights followed by 5 days off)
Week 3: Wednesday to Friday 06:00 - 18:00 (followed by 1 day off, then start again on week 1)
All shifts include x1 30-minute breaks and x2 15-minute breaks.
Responsibilities:
Accountable for organising and leading a team, operating the factory in delivering the production plan to agreed product specification and performance targets in compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, Food Safety requirements, Legislative requirements and company policies and procedures, with a clear focus on cost.
Develop peer relationships across the operation to drive operational performance and continuity.
Encourage ownership and provide autonomy to act at all levels within the team. Manage the performance of individuals by conducting regular performance, career and development discussions (KPMS). Coach, assist and encourage the team to sustain improvements through promotion and role model of the Kinnerton values
Accountable for the working environment and the maintenance and improvement of the standards at all times meeting with (and exceeding) company requirements.
Deliver breakthrough operational targets. By being responsible for – Hour by hour KPI performance; Area improvement CI plan; supporting the introduction of new technology. Ensure robust processes and procedures are in place, to achieve and maintain standards and external accreditation.
Build an in depth technical understanding of the plant, to allow development and support of the team. Carry out regular compliance audits, taking prompt action as required. Use business systems to manage day to day activity

Qualifications:
Essential
-
IOSH Managing Safely or ability to pass the qualification
-
HACCP L2 or ability to pass the qualification
-
Solid manufacturing management/supervision experience in a fast paced environment

Advanced Core Competency testing or GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths

Competent in managing first line people issues such as attendance management, disciplinary procedure and performance and behavioral based appraisals.

Strong communication skills at all levels
-
Ability to make correct decisions in a fast paced, challenging environment

Experience of reading a daily/weekly plan and manning lines appropriately
-
Ability to deliver the plan to targeted rates and costs at all times

Ability to challenge the team and foster a constructive challenging culture

Competent in using and coaching basic problem solving tools and experience of applying lean tools to working environment

Commercial understanding of run-rates, productivity levels and quality issues

Experience of Microsoft Office applications

Understanding of the lean aspects of World Class Manufacturing. (WCM)
Desirable
- Health and Safety Level 3 / IOSH Leading safely certification

Food Safety Level 3

HACCP Level 3

Experience of executing alternative plans if the original is not possible with little notice

CMI Level 3/ ILM Level 3 or Equivalent

Yellow belt trained – understand special vs common cause
