Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to join their team in Louth. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the transport department, ensuring efficient and timely delivery services. Given that the site is heavily unionised with long-tenured drivers, the ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of managing change in a challenging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage daily transport operations, ensuring schedules are adhered to and deliveries are made on time.
  • Lead and support a team of experienced drivers, addressing any issues or concerns that arise during the shift.
  • Collaborate closely with the union representatives to maintain positive relations and ensure compliance with union agreements.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of transport staff, providing coaching and guidance to improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Manage the allocation of resources effectively, including vehicles and drivers, to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Address and resolve any operational issues, including vehicle breakdowns, delivery delays, or staffing shortages.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the transport department to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on transport operations, including key performance indicators and operational challenges.

Working Hours:

  • Early Shift: 06:00 - 14:00, Monday - Friday, with some flexibility

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Transport Supervisor or in a similar role within a logistics or 3PL environment.
  • Strong understanding of transport operations, including scheduling, fleet management, and driver supervision.
  • Experience working in a unionised environment, with the ability to navigate and manage union relationships effectively.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and manage change.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing operational challenges.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to transport operations.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing business needs and shift patterns.
