Woodley School and College is seeking to appoint an experienced and capable Caretaker to work at a satellite provision in Crosland Moor but may be required to work if necessary, at the main Woodley School and College site.

The post will be a permanent position working 15-20 hours per week on a split shift, exact hours tbc. but roughly:

  • Mornings 7.30 am (fixed time) – 9.30 am
  • Afternoons 4.30/5.30 pm – 6.30 pm (fixed time)

During school holidays, hours are more flexible and can be arranged in discussion with the Business Manager and based on works required etc.

Annual Leave entitlement is 27.5 days bank holidays. When you have completed five years continuous service you get an additional five days holiday entitlement. All holidays wherever possible are to be taken during school closure periods.

Woodley School and College is a Kirklees Local Authority special school for children and young people with autism aged 5-19. We are looking to appoint, enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistants to join our committed and friendly team of happy and hardworking staff and children.

You will be someone who will share our vision for high standards in all aspects of school life. Particular emphasis will be on supporting learning and social and emotional needs, working alongside the class teacher. The ability to relate with children/young people from diverse backgrounds is essential for this job, as well as having good verbal communication skills in order to liaise with children/young people and other staff members.

Main duties will include:

  • Opening and Locking of the building, ensuring site and building security
  • Ensuring Health and Safety compliance of the site
  • Reactive and proactive maintenance including Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Ensure statutory checks are undertake and recorded in line with policy and guidance
  • Cleaning as and when required in line with role
  • Grounds Maintenance ad upkeep
  • Liaising with colleagues, in particular the Business Manager and the lead Assistant Headteacher onsite at regular intervals
