Main purpose of job:
Nottingham Mencap run a thriving, progressive day service for adults with learning disabilities and autism. We have recently moved into our new premises, a state-of-the-art, modern building with fantastic facilities including a gym, health and beauty room, sensory room and independent cooking kitchen.
We are looking to recruit for a new post, which will help bring recourses and people together. The service supports approximately 50 people per day, taking part in multiple activities in our building and out in the community. You will be coordinating the service as a whole, ensuring that the service has drive, focus and clarity.
Appointee will be experienced in project delivery and leading teams of people and have an excellent understanding of learning disabilities. We want someone to lead from the front, so ideally have a blended working week between the office and directly working with the people we support.

Nottingham Mencap delivers day and evening provision for adults with learning disabilities and autism at our 2 venues in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire (Sneinton and Wilford). Sessions currently run between Monday and Friday, 09:30 – 15:00.
We are a growing, forward-thinking organisation and have aspirations to continue to develop our successful day and evening services. This is a new post and will lead a team of group leaders and support workers to drive the service forward, develop our expansive offer, and to have oversight of the service.
The coordinator will be fully integrated into the service, which means dividing time between being client facing and office based.
You will coordinate the service on a day-to-day basis, working closely with the service manager and senior administrator to ensure adequate staffing, the safety of all attendees and the provision of a challenging, progressive activities. It is important to maintain a positive relationship with stakeholders and develop the service in a person-centred way. The planning of the sessions will reflect this. The sessions will be fun, informative, meet outcomes and teach/ enhance skills.

c) Liaison with: Senior Administrator, Admin and Reception team,
Senior Management, Parents, Carers, Commissioners and Referrers
Location:
Based at our head office in Clarence Street. You will also be required to travel to Wilford on occasion.
Main tasks of job:
1. Ensure that the weekday day and evening group provisions are appropriately staffed, fully operational and planned to maximise the participation of the adults who attend. Help ensure services meet the targeted outcomes set by Local Authority and Nottingham Mencap.
2. Maintain a safe environment within the building. Ensure each space used in the service is maintained to a high standard.
3. To ensure support staff provide high quality support in all areas of personal, domestic and social need.
4. To directly line manage group leaders, support workers and volunteers including involvement in recruitment, induction, probation, supervision, appraisals, and training ensuring all are working in a cohesive and complimentary manner.
5. To lead on the introduction of the service with all new attendees, including the completion of care plans which will be completed with the person at the heart. This initial meeting may be within the centre or in the person’s home.
6. Support the service manager by engaging in recruitment, employment, supervision, and appraisals of workers. In conjunction with the service manager participate in the proactive management of annual leave, sickness, absence, and other personnel related issues.
7. To produce rotas to facilitate the day to day running of the service, including cover for sickness and holidays when required. This may include providing cover yourself wherever is necessary within the day provision.
8. Create, manage, and maintain client management systems to track, monitor and forecast activity, and engagements. Ensure that client records are up-to-date with care plans reflecting support needs.
9. Support the service manager to ensure relevant documentation is completed for internal and external inspection. This may include, but is not confined to, CQC compliant standards, Risk Assessments, supervision, record keeping, Care Plans, assessment records and evaluations of care. Ensure all policy and practice meets regulatory requirements.
10. Ensure that individual and group activities are sensitive to the individual needs of users and that relevant assessments (including risk) have been undertaken and communicated to support workers. Ensure effective communication with others including referrers, social workers, key workers, and carers. Establish effective feedback mechanisms.
11. Ensure the regular involvement and consultation of adults as well as parents and carers in the development of services. Complete annual surveys to track organisational outcomes.
12. Robust implementation of policies and procedures adopted by Nottingham Mencap.
13. To preserve and respect the dignity and privacy of people and their families and observe confidentiality at all times.
14. Keep abreast of new developments in the field of Learning Disabilities. Take specific responsibility for the introduction of specific new services, improvements to current services as required and the cessation of those deemed no longer viable.
15. Embrace a culture of change and improvement. Participate in a range of measures to improve productivity. Maintain a focus on increasing the number and diversity of service users including extending our services to those living within the City of Nottingham area.
16. To proactively liaise with current and potential future funding bodies. Ensure availability of high quality and person-centred services to address the personalisation agenda and attract those seeking a range of support options via personal budgets.
17. Participation in relevant activities and meetings across the organisation and to act as a fully participative member of the senior management team.
18. Participation in formal review of support mechanisms on a yearly basis.
19. Work with the Group Leaders to develop and expand the groups in line with need and hold responsibility for the development of a variety of discrete areas of service provision as agreed with the service manager.
