We are currently recruiting this exciting opportunity for a niche product manufacturing client in Farnborough. The primary function will be to provide client technical support including visiting clients for minor repairs and calibration. You will support a range of electronic products to customers and distributors. You will also support production and development teams as required which would include assembly and process queries as well as product development.
This is a ‘hands-on’ role requiring a high level of knowledge and experience of electronic product development, test, assembly and calibration methods.
You will need to be able to fault find to component level working through to system level to find a root cause issues. Experience or interest in other aspects of engineering such as mechanical assembly techniques, 3D modelling/printing, software development or AI would be beneficial.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- You will be a key member of the team providing technical support to customers and distributors.
- Be the first point of contact for technical support, liaising with other colleagues to provide solutions to queries.
- Support the development and improvement of our products.
- Work with Production Technicians
- Engage with suppliers to ensure documentation is correct, up-to-date and under change control.
- Provide customer training (once conversant with products).
- Customer site visits will be required for product repairs and Calibration
- Requirement to keep logs and write technical reports.
You will have 5 years experience in electronic product development and customer support role gained within a manufacturing environment and have an Electronic Engineering qualification such as Degree/HNC/HND. understanding of circuit analysis, tolerancing for manufacture, measurement and basic coding)
- Technical/Product Support (Electronic Bias)
- Knowledge of calibration methods is essential.
- support production and customers. Attention to detail is critical. There is also a requirement to keep summaries of the status of customer enquiries.
- Technical skills include some or all of the following areas:
- Microcontroller and DSPbased Circuit functionality
- Embedded Firmware development
- Analogue circuit functionality
- Systems integration
- Fault finding techniques at all product levels including supplies.
- Ability to learn and operate instrumentation, run tests, record results and write reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills: accurate, clear and concise.
- Ability to organise and manage technical support logs and customer support information.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, One Drive / SharePoint and able to produce accurate, high-quality reports and documents quickly.
- Able to write, update and organise work instructions and test procedures.
- Quality assurance: ability to analyse test data and check calibration conformance to standards.
- PC Systems: operating systems and drivers.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Able to respond quickly and prioritise required support.
- Keep logs and write reports.
- Surface-mount and through-hole soldering skills.
- The ability to think logically in a fast-changing environment is essential.

Desirable Skills
An in-depth knowledge of PCBA manufacture.
Ability to research and digest PCBA standards and test methods.
Knowledge and application of design & safety standards (e.g. EMC, Low Voltage Directive).
Experience of Investigative System testing.
Comprehensive cabling and solder re-work skills.
Innovate mechanical solutions based on applied Physics.
Building test rigs and cables.
Use of CAD to do simple updates to Engineering Drawings.
Use of Circuit Simulation tools.
