Position: Head of Marketing

Contract: Part-time or full-time applications considered

Location: Personal Best HQ, Romsey – on-site (hybrid possible after 6 months)

Salary Band: Pro-rata salary range from £45,000 to £49,500

The Position

Personal Best is embarking on the next phase of its ambitious growth strategy aimed at expanding its reach and broadening its provision to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the business.

The Head of Marketing will shape and lead our marketing, brand, and communications across leisure, education, and estates services, helping to take us to the next stage of growth.

You will define and communicate the vision for the marketing function and collaborate closely with various stakeholders to deliver the strategic plan. You will build a small team, comprising an in-house content creator and a network of freelance partners to develop and execute impactful, multi-channel campaigns.

You will bring a strategic mindset and strong project management skills to the delivery of engaging campaigns, measuring and reporting on their success. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, combined with excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, will be essential for success in this role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Define, create, and implement effective marketing strategies to achieve Personal Best’s strategic goals.
  • Analyse data and market trends to inform and refine marketing strategies.
  • Use creativity, innovation, and insight to develop compelling, multi-channel campaigns.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for marketing success and report regularly on effectiveness.
  • Lead the production of all marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, and advertising assets.
  • Manage all digital channels, including owned websites, listing sites, and social media, ensuring content aligns with strategic objectives.
  • Create and oversee content for websites, brochures, advertising campaigns, and scripts for video and events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maximise the commercial potential and PR impact of each business area.
  • Conduct and report on regular competitor/market research to support strategic decision-making.
  • Line manage and mentor the content creator (to be hired), overseeing their career development, appraisals, and performance reviews.
  • Establish and maintain a network of freelance partners, such as designers, videographers, and digital marketing experts, to support the execution of campaigns.
  • Compile, monitor, and report on the annual marketing budget, ensuring compliance with Personal Best’s purchasing policies.
  • Safeguard Personal Best’s reputation by maintaining excellent relationships with customers and ensuring consistent brand messaging.
  • Contribute as a key member of the leadership team, supporting other business areas as needed, in alignment with core responsibilities.

About You

  • You possess a marketing qualification, along with significant marketing experience in a commercial environment.
  • You have a proven track record of designing and delivering successful on and offline marketing campaigns in a B2C or B2B environment.
  • You’re both a strategic thinker and an executor, delivering results.
  • You bring fresh, innovative ideas and can communicate them effectively as part of a leadership team.
  • You have experience managing and scaling marketing teams, offering strong leadership and oversight.
  • You’re motivated by the fast pace and demands of a small business and you are passionate about Personal Best’s mission.
  • You are a hands-on, collaborative team player who is committed, creative, and eager to take ownership of Personal Best’s marketing journey.
