Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust – an educational charity and family of schools around the city of Birmingham – is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join the team.
Key Responsibilities
Providing a proactive and forward-thinking finance service across the Trust and contributing to the overall success of the Finance department.
Acting as the first port of call for all incoming queries, responding and escalating where appropriate.
Processing purchase orders from requisitions accurately.
Raising and processing invoices, ensuring appropriate authorisation and that invoices are paid within specified time limits.
Investigating and resolving supplier invoices under query, arranging returns and ensuring that refunds or credit notes are received.
Maintaining a detailed record of non-invoiced income relating to extra-curricular clubs, trips, etc., including fundraising initiatives.
Assisting in the preparation of academy budgets and in month-end and year-end procedures.
Providing high-quality administrative support.
Skills and Experience
Experience working in finance (knowledge of Iris Financials, procurement and purchase ledgers desirable).
Five GCSEs, including Maths and English at grades 4–9 or equivalent.
Commitment to the Trust’s aims and values.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, parents and students.
Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential student information.
Awareness of child protection/safeguarding with up-to-date training (or a willingness to undertake training).
Ability to adapt to a variety of situations and people.

Salary: £24,635 – £25,927.
Contract: Full-time, permanent. The post could be term-time only plus two weeks or an all-year-round post. We are happy to talk about flexible working for the right candidate.
