Job Summary
We are seeking a Home Office Construction Manager to be based in our Milton Keynes or London office to perform Home Office Construction activities on one or more projects during proposal, design, and execution phases.
Job Purpose
Ensuring all deliverables needed for Home Office Construction activity in each project are prepared for the assigned scope, providing necessary support to other departments. He/she also ensures that Technip Energies’ subcontractors adhere to specifications and drawings in subcontract documents concerning HSE, quality, and planning. Will also support the growth of the UKOC construction department.
Reporting lines and interactions
Hierarchically reports to: UKOC Construction Manager Lead
Directly supervises: Construction Engineers
Key Interactions (internally, externally): Construction departments UK and internationally, multi-discipline project teams, subcontracts department, Commissioning, QHSE, procurement, engineering, scheduling, estimation, proposals team, project controls, project managers. Clients, Subcontractors, Vendors.
Main Accountabilities:
- Act as focal point for Construction, in proposals negotiation and interfacing with the Construction teams of EPC centers (Paris / Rome) at proposals / project execution stage.
- Interface with others HO departments, construction sites and Clients to create deliverables as requested by projects.
- Support the development of the projects overall construction subcontracting strategy during proposals/project execution stage.
- Lead Constructability input for feasibility studies, FEED’s, detailed design and field construction.
- Lead, chair, and run constructability workshops and programs resulting in the writing of final constructability reports.
- Create organizational charts and mobilization schedules.
- Define and develop Temporary Site Facilities plans.
- Produce construction execution plans and all other deliverables assigned to construction.
- Prepare construction sequences in your support of construction schedule development.
- Provide technical assistance and support including regular visits to construction sites to audit and provide feedback.
- Attend site surveys and provide construction input into the site survey reports.
- Assist in prequalification of subcontractors, including visits to current work sites and fabrication shops, regional surveys of industrial capability and infrastructure.
- Review subcontract enquiries and bids for technical compliance.
- Assist in estimating construction costs both direct and indirect.
- Lead and organize transportation and logistics surveys and reports.
- Lead projects with overall heavy lifting strategies.
- Lead and assist in the overview of site preparation, pre-construction and site enabling works.
- Ensure Construction Contractors' compliance with all applicable statutory requirements, such as CDM Regulations 2015 and any specific Client requirements.
- Assist the engineering department in discharging their Principal Designer duties.
- Frequent business trips to construction sites and Client offices.
- Demonstrate Leadership in HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) and understanding of HSE regulations in the UK including CDM Regulations 2015.
Requirements:
- Experience in industry, preferably on major projects in petrochemical, energy transition and related industries.
- HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering or construction subject.
- Good spatial awareness with a practical problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent skills in interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, communication, and leadership; possess strong presentation ability to address senior management, client management, and total project personnel with command.
- Previous construction experience in planning and preparation of construction execution
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fully familiar with interpretation of drawings, specifications and engineering procedures and model reviews.
- Contractually, commercially and technically astute.
- Fluent in writing and speaking English (UK)
- Safety ethic and personal sense of responsibility for the safety of others
Advantageous Experience:
- NEC contract exposure
- Understanding of UK National Agreements with trade unions
- Familiar with CDM regulations across design and construction phases
- CSCS card and SMSTS qualification
- NEBOSH qualification
