What you'll do
Collaborate closely with various teams and business units to develop and maintain a robust data protection and privacy program.
Provide oversight of data processing activities and practices to ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations.
Monitor data flows and identify potential risks or breaches.
Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and oversee the handling of high-risk data processing activities.
Prepare, maintain, and update data protection policies and procedures, ensuring they are effectively implemented across the organization.
Promote awareness and provide training on data protection regulations and best practices to all staff members.
Review and enhance existing data protection frameworks to ensure they align with evolving regulatory requirements.
Liaise with key internal (Business, Compliance, Risk, etc.) and external (regulators, vendors etc.) stakeholders as required.
Be a key point of call for all Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) related communications and respond to all requests and emails to a high standard.
Be registered as the Data Protection Officer for the UK entity and other overseas entities in the wider Trading 212 Group (as required).
Answer all queries from across the business related to Data Protection, and in particular the management of the 'data protection queries' internal forum.
Produce Management Information monthly for presentation to the UK, CY and AU boards.
Respond appropriately to all data breaches in a timely manner and ensure the suitable action is taken and mitigants are in place.
What you need to have
Experience in overseeing data protection and privacy compliance within an organization with demonstratable experience in UK/EU data protection laws and regulations.
Track record of liaising with data protection regulators.
University degree in Law, Finance, or a related field.
Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory concepts clearly.
Fluency in English.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, demonstrating strong decision-making skills.
Strong understanding of data protection principles, privacy risk management, and control frameworks.
Experience with global regulatory regimes and expertise in designing and implementing data protection frameworks for multi-jurisdictional compliance.
Familiarity with industry best practices in data protection and information security management.
