About the role
An enthusiastic and inspirational Tutor of History is required to join an experienced and successful Humanities team, to share in the delivery of A level History to the Edexcel History specification and/or the delivery of A level Ancient History to the OCR specification.
The post has some flexibility in terms of topics to be delivered.
About the person
A high standard of knowledge of relevant historical topics and enthusiasm for the subject are required. The successful candidate should have or be willing to acquire up to date knowledge of a range of teaching and learning techniques and engage fully with students. They should prepare interesting and focused lessons which develop understanding of historical significance and skills of evaluation of primary and secondary sources and meet the demands of the exam board successfully. A degree in History, or with some element of History included, is required but we would be keen to discuss the post with anyone who feels they may have suitable knowledge and experience.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively, but also independently, have good interpersonal skills, and be able to manage a range of assessment formats. Good IT skills and the ability to work with a wide range of different College systems would be a benefit, as would a willingness to produce and adapt teaching resources.
