Server Captain
Assist the Dining Room Supervisor and Servers in carrying out duties to greet and wait and bus tables for independent elder residents and their families or guests. Concern yourself with the safety of all diners to minimize the potential for fire and accidents. Ensure that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights
● Provide direct supervisory responsibilities of Servers in the absence of the Dining Room Supervisor
● Delegate the workstation assignments (assign tables and stations to employees)
● Take inventory of store to inform managers of stocking needs
● Work with Dining Room Manager to produce daily menu spreadsheets and complete billing transactions
● Complete all side work assignments and oversee the completion of server staff side work
● Ensure Dining Room is set on time and clean.
● Use Point of Sale System (POS) and train wait staff on the system
● Follow procedures to assure that dining room(s) and service stations are maintained sanitary at all times
● Understand the daily menu through active participation in the pre-meal meeting
● Effectively communicate information to residents and other customers regarding flavor, availability, presentation, and preparation of meals
Part time 24 hours per week - fully benefit eligible position
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
A minimum of three years of serving experience and the knowledge and skills to:
● delegate responsibilities of Servers and follow up through completion
● facilitate instructions from managers (Chef Manager, Dining Manager)
● work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
● dependable and have a warm and caring attitude towards older adults
● work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of a team
● problem solve, accept direction, and utilize supervision to enhance work performance
● adhere to OSHA and HACCP guidelines
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS
● Must be physically able to twist, stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs, lift and carry equipment and supplies to a minimum of shoulder height weighing up to 30 lbs.
● Must have physical stamina to complete job related tasks.
