Position Summary: Seeking Monday - Friday Part-Time Café Worker to provide a quality food service experience to guests and employees in support of our company vision to be our customers’ favorite supplier. The Café Worker prepares and serves simple menu items and daily specials, provides a pleasant experience, and maintains a well-stocked dining area that is both safe and sanitary.
Essential Functions:
- Greet gusts and employees who utilize café facilities
- Fill orders accurately and in a timely manner
- Take regular inventory of stockroom and dining areas, coordinating with supervisor as needed to maintain supply stores
- Receive food and supply deliveries, keeping stock organized and accounting for any returns, credits and other various items
- Post weekly menus, displaying up-to-date pricing information for guests
- Label all perishable food items with name and date
- Use proper and safe food-handling procedures, storage, and disposal methods
- Sanitize food prep area and utensils continuously throughout shift, including counters, kitchen utensils, containers, sink, refrigerators, and other items used
- Knowledge and practice food safety policies and procedures
- Discard food waste as needed on a daily basis
- Inspect condition of food service and storage equipment, reporting or ordering repair when service is needed
- Cater special functions as needed
- clean employee-use refrigerators weekly
- Turn equipment off prior to end of shift
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities
- Report all unsafe activates to direct manager, otherwise report to Safety Director or Human Resources
- Be punctual and dependable; accountable for assigned work shift
- Comply with all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and guidelines
- Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
- Take direction from and communicate with others regardless of age, gender, race or religion
- Participate in cross-training within and outside of department as required
- Participate in training to learn various machines and equipment
- Perform general housekeeping duties to keep work areas clean and free of debris
- Dispose of hazardous and all other waste material in accordance with regulatory procedures and policy
- Work overtime and other shifts as required
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to be on your feet, standing, and/or walking for the duration of your shift
- Ability to perform such actions as bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, lifting, and performing repetitive motions
- May be required to lift 50 pounds in weight
- Comfortable working around a kitchen environment and experience using cooking implements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good customer service skills
- Knowledge in the proper use of basic kitchen tools and appliances
- Knowledge and ability to perform basic math and measuring calculations
- Ability to perform multiple duties at once
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge in basic computer and phone proficiency
- Good planning and scheduling skills
Required Experience and Education
- 1 year related experience or training
- High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Food safety training certification
