Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Job Description
This role requires experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination, as well as updating patient information. Responsibilities include collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously, demonstrating technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles, understanding all of the physicians' orders, matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order, packaging specimens for transport, storing specimen samples according to required temperature, and maintaining integrity of the specimen. The candidate must understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations, attend annual department trainings, and have the ability to answer telephone calls and read laboratory results. The ability to float to all locations needed is also required.

Work Environment
Work hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm, and Wednesday from 10am to 7pm. Locations include multiple sites across Chicago and its surrounding areas (compensated for mileage).
