Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

Exhibit proficiency in all of the following: blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups, pediatric blood collections, difficult draws (patients in medical office buildings). Has comprehensive understanding of compliance and safety, and is able to effectively communicate the importance of compliance and safety to other employees. Possess the ability and skills necessary to provide orientation and training for patient service centers.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collection by venipuncture and capillary technique from patients of all age groups.
• Conduct pediatric blood collections.
• Handle difficult draws from patients in medical office buildings.
• Ensure comprehensive understanding and adherence to compliance and safety protocols.
• Effectively communicate the importance of compliance and safety to other employees.
• Provide orientation and training for patient service centers.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma
• CPT 1 License
• 1 year phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting (Pediatrics, ICU, High Volume, etc.) or 2 years phlebotomy experience in a reference laboratory setting
• Must be open to being called and working the same day
• Must be open to working 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts
• Must not be afraid of drawing patients on COVID floor

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Must be flexible with working 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts
• Must be comfortable with weekends
• Will train 1st shift, Monday-Friday at one location for the first few weeks

Work Environment

This is an on-call position. Due to union agreements, contingent workers are not scheduled until current employees have been offered the shifts. Most available shifts are due to same-day call outs, and you will be called in by supervisors and schedulers. You need to be available for a full couple of weeks of training before being moved to on-call. This position requires flexibility and availability for same-day calls. Dress code is scrubs. Hours will vary from all shifts including weekends. The position was created due to higher volume and the need for more coverage. This is an opportunity to get your foot in the door with a prominent healthcare provider. You may work at multiple locations to increase your hours. Must be comfortable working on-call and with the potential of same-day work calls.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
