What are the responsibilities and job description for the PV Designer position at ADT Solar?
ADT Solar is looking for a Solar (PV) Designer to produce Photovoltaic site plans, drawings, elevations, and equipment details utilizing AutoCAD software. Drawings will include all views and dimensions necessary for permitting and installation. In this role you will be required to make simple to complex decisions but discuss more complex issues with Engineers and/or Supervisors. In this role you will create custom solar panel designs that best fit the customer's unique needs. You will also communicate with customers, sales reps, site surveyors, and operation team members to identify all necessary details of a project's plan, in an effective and professional manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assess and confirm system design, including but not limited to; array layout, wire runs and interconnection method.
- Identify and resolve design issues with the salesman and submit drawings for their customer's review and approval.
- Design residential and ESS (Energy Storage systems) as per ADT Solar's guidelines.
- Assist engineers with design and detailing of various components.
- Create, review, and modify drawing sets in AutoCAD and custom software tools
- Track and manage numerous projects and communicate milestones to appropriate parties.
- Make copies of drawings and maintain information regarding changes to database
- Coordinating with multiple jurisdictions to meet their requirements.
- Provide final review of system designs to ensure a high level of accuracy and completion.
- Maintain and update CAD standards.
- Research building codes and plan implementation of new system design requirements (NEC, Building Code, Fire Code, Greenbook, etc.)
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Basic 2D AutoCAD skills required.
- Solid understanding of drafting and PV techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology preferred.
- Familiar with national codes and standards.
- Experience and/or knowledge of building practices.
- Strong computer skills, proficient in AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe PDF Pro Suite (replacing sheets, creating PDF's).
- Capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
- Previous solar design experience highly preferred, but not required.
- Experience working with Salesforce, a plus.
- NABCEP certification not required but highly desirable.
