Radio station located in Fairfield, Iowa is seeking a News Director to oversee the production and on-air anchoring of radio newscasts and public affairs programs as well as cover and prepare news stories for broadcast. The successful candidate will be an energetic, self-motivated individual with an engaging on-air presence.

Responsibilities of this position may include the following:
- Direct the gathering and production of news content on-air and online
- Utilize digital tools to enhance newsgathering and dissemination
- Ensure the accuracy of news programs
- Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research
- Maintain compliance with FCC requirements relating to community affairs and programs.
- Host a daily on-air shift
- Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director and consistent with the position.
Requirements for this position include the following:
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Have knowledge of on-air and online techniques/procedures, protocols, and standards.
- Have knowledge of news and public affairs radio program production.
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and adapt news and public affairs items for incorporation into on-air and/or online content.
- Have skill in the use of journalistic research and methods and techniques.
- Ability to make broadcast programming decisions within defined parameters.
- Knowledge of editorial and ethical standards for the research and development of journalistic articles and/or presentations.
- Ability to develop and deliver news reports on-air and online.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and fully insured vehicle.
Preference may be given to candidates who have the above experience plus the following:
- Previous experience in broadcast media.
- Experience operating automation systems.
