Applied Research Associates (ARA) is looking for a Senior Engineer with a broad set of skills and experience to join our Southwest Division’s Concept Development team in Albuquerque, NM. The ideal candidate will be capable of applying their knowledge and skills to a diverse set of hardware (mechanical and electrical) and software systems primarily focused on weapons. Activities will include requirements decomposition, system performance capture, safety analysis, and requirements verification activities. Additionally, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting project management activities on a large and complex weapon development and production effort. As a Senior Engineer with ARA you will:
- Lead requirements generation and decomposition for design of complex electrical and mechanical systems
- Lead system safety analyses and develop documentation in accordance with DoD standards
- Serve as the Digital Engineering focal point for the group and help establish the ARA Digitial Engineering architecture
- Create and present briefings and work directly with internal and external stakeholders
- Work with and lead a diverse set of mechanical, electrical, software, and embedded engineers
- Provide project management support, to include cost, schedule and deliverable tracking, delegation, and documentation
- Perform component level, subsystem level, and system level trade studies
Senior Engineer Requirements:
- US citizen with an active DoD Security Clearance or ability to obtain one
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 7 to 10 years of experience or equivalent
- Experience conducting and documenting System Safety Analyses
- Experience with all of the following:
- Modeling and simulation tools including Matlab, LS-DYNA, SolidWorks,
- Agile Development tools including GitHub, Jira
- Experience with Project Management
- Strong technical writing
- Team player with excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to understand and solve complex problems
- Interest in learning new engineering and project management tools and understanding of all fields of engineering
