Labor & Employment Counsel to primarily assist with wide variety of employment law and traditional labor/union matters, both domestic and international. The ideal candidate has experience with counseling management on a myriad of employment law matters, including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and other applicable federal and state labor and employment laws. In addition, the candidate should have labor/union-related experience providing with advising management on contract interpretation, grievance/arbitrations and disciplinary matters pursuant to applicable labor laws.
- Provide counsel and guidance to management on a wide range of labor/union matters, including interpretation of contract issues arising under collective bargaining agreements and advising on labor law issues and disputes. Manage disciplinary matters, grievances and arbitrations and support Labor Relations team. Participate in bargaining with the Union.
- Draft and review labor communications/correspondence to unions, pilots, employees and media
- Lead internal investigations regarding employee relations matters, audits, hotline reports and prepare written summaries and recommendations to management. Prepare Position Statements in response to EEOC and other administrative agencies, review and update labor and employment policies, manuals, handbooks and procedures to ensure best practice and compliance with applicable laws/regulations both domestically and internationally. Respond to subpoenas/information requests.
- Assist with assessing company risks and balance with business needs to provide pragmatic legal advice while working collaboratively with the business groups
- Manage outside counsel both domestically and internationally on labor and employment matters, arbitrations and litigation.
- Conduct due diligence and provide additional legal support on labor/employment items as related to mergers and acquisitions.
- Juris doctor degree from a well-regarded law school
- Minimum of 6-7 years of meaningful, sustained traditional employment and labor law experience advising management either in a law firm or in-house
- Experience counseling management and/or handing arbitrations pursuant to the Railway Labor Act is strongly preferred but not required
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced dynamic legal department
- Strong writing skills, work ethic, and attention to detail
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Must be a current member of a state bar in good standing in location where position is based
Salary Range: $148,500 - $200,500

Financial offer within the stated range will be based on multiple factors to include but not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset.
