JOB DESCRIPTION
The HR Specialist is responsible for understanding and applying employment laws, HR policies, and programs in order to engage with employees and support HR functions across the organization. The candidate will have knowledge of benefits, performance, compensation, compliance, wellness, HR systems and technology, and diversity and inclusion.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to leave, benefits, policy, and general employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors.
- Assist with development of HR policies and procedures. Provide assistance to employees in the areas of policies and procedures.
- Provide assistance with offer letter preparation and dissemination; conduct new hire orientation and onboarding.
- Attend and participate in employee performance discussions, disciplinary meetings, and terminations.
- Conduct the benefits portion of employee orientation and assist with enrollment if needed.
- Conduct exit interviews and provides data to show trends.
- Provide counsel and guidance to managers/supervisors on a myriad of employee-related issues.
- Keep current on compliance with federal, state and local employment laws, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Assist with preparing and submitting compliance reporting to various government agencies by generating reports for compliance reporting (EEO-1, Vets-100, AAP planning).
- Support the annual open enrollment process by preparing presentations, communicating with employees, and resolving issues.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field
- 3 years of experience in the HR field

- Experience working in a professional services environment a plus.
- Experience with HRIS required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with employees at all levels.
- Position requires expert knowledge of principles and practices of human resources and personnel administration, as well as highly effective oral and written communication skills. Requires excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with employees and management.
- Ability to work and lead multiple projects with proactive follow through
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated success utilizing creative/effective-sourcing techniques.
- Considerable judgment must be exercised when providing advice and counsel to employees.
- Proven ability to interact, persuasively and communicate with senior management
- Highly knowledgeable on state, local and federal employment laws and regulations
