An established music and hospitality team is getting ready to open an 800 capacity music venue in the heart of Downtown Oakland and we are looking for an incredible General Manager.
Ceremony will be a carefully curated, yet no frills designed space which will set the stage for the best in class, state of the art sound system and top tier shows and event bookings. Ceremony intends to be an inclusive and welcoming community space that provides varied genres of music to bring people from all walks of life together.
The team has already created highly successful bars, restaurants and music venues that have received local and national attention both in the Bay Area and beyond. With decades of experience within the music, marketing, venue booking and hospitality industries they will be focusing on an impeccable bookings program and exceptional customer experience.

GENERAL MANAGER
Overview:
The GM is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and the overall success and performance of the business.
The GM drives results through effective leadership that aligns with the company's culture & values, and possesses an unwavering commitment to the customer experience. The GM will be a high-energy, high-performing, results-driven team member that strives to make our venue the greatest place to both visit and work.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee night-to-night operations
· Present on the floor during busy periods
· Hire, train and support all staff
· Be present onsite for liquor inventory deliveries
· Complete the monthly schedule to ensure optimal labor
· Go on errand runs for hospitality riders and other pickups
· Review employees and managers to give feedback on performance
· Work with clients and events coordinator to effectively oversee and execute private events and small group events
· Ensure cleanliness and timely repairs
· Work to increase revenue, improve profitability and meet budget goals
· Complete regular inventory to track product and maintain company cost goals
· Regularly review pricing/costing of all menu items
· Attend and prepare for regular meetings with Managing Members and Bookkeeper
· Manage general inquiry emails from customers
· Ensure company and legal requirements are being met including HR, TIP reporting, Health and Safety, tax, etc., with support of Managing Members and Bookkeeper
· Any venue experience not required but certainly considered (booking, closing, production assist, etc)
· Must work weekends
· Have a flexible schedule centered around the venue’s events schedule
· Must have access to a vehicle and a valid drivers license
Skills & Experience:
· 3 years of prior bar, restaurant, or music venue management experience
· Weekly cash reconciliation
· Creating and maintaining systems for service standards
· Cost controls systems
· Food safety manager certification Preferred but not required
· Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs (experience with project management software is a plus—ie. Asana, Monday, etc.)
· Knowledge of Federal, State and local labor laws and policies

Relationships:
· Position oversees all employees at the location
· Works parallel with Talent Booker, Marketing Manager and Events Booker
· Reports directly to Managing Members
