CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Resident Engineer to join our Construction Inspection Team at a client site in Orange County, NY from May 1st – Labor Day.
YOUR IMPACT
CHA provides a full complement of construction administration and inspection services to monitor, record and deliver projects. Our team includes seasoned certified construction professionals cross-trained in design, project and risk management, and health and safety compliance. Cross-training makes our team collaborative, cognizant and confidently pragmatic in understanding design and construction issues.
At CHA, the Resident Engineer is responsible for examining buildings, highways and streets, sewer and water systems, dams, bridges, and other structures. This individual will also inspect electrical, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR), and plumbing systems. The Resident Engineer reviews building codes, local ordinances, and zoning laws, as well as approve blueprints and monitor construction sites.
This professional is expected to be well versed in all areas of construction inspection. Although no two inspection projects are alike, resident engineers will perform an initial check during the first phase of construction and follow-up inspections throughout the construction project. When the project is finished, they do a final, comprehensive inspection and provide written or oral feedback related to their findings.

REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma required, Associate’s degree in Engineering Science, Construction Services, or related technical field preferred
- NICET Level III Highways Construction Inspection certification preferred
- Valid Driver’s License required
- A minimum of 5 years of related construction observation experience required
- Demonstrates a good knowledge about the construction industry
- Ability to comprehend construction and contract documents
- Understands and follows company standards, demonstrates knowledge of construction techniques, and able to complete most duties required on complex projects
- Ability to understand and interpret client’s contracts
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong mathematics skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Good knowledge of the Company’s standards and core values
- Demonstrates a willingness to aid and teach entry level staff
- Extensive travel may be required (to job site)
