What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Assembler position at Coperion (US)?
Coperion K-Tron is looking for an Electrical Assembler to join our team in Salina, KS. As an Electrical Assembler you will be responsible for layout, wire, test and inspect standard and custom electrical control panels in a safe and timely manner. The Electrical Assembler provides high quality output with minimal supervision.

What you’ll do:
- Assemble electrical components and wiring per engineering supplied drawings.
- Locate and drill holes for mounting din rails and electrical services as well as locate and cut out for HMIs and other devices.
- Position breakers, relays, contactors, bus bar, transformers, insulators, regulators, condenser units, motor starters, motors, plugging devices, as well as fuse blocks and disconnect switches.
- Cut, strip, and bend wire, cable, and create labels.
- Solder and crimp connectors to wires.
- Follow strict testing procedures as well as download HMI and PLC programs where applicable.
- Detect schematic mistakes. Communicate with electrical engineering about issues with drawings or component compatibility to continuous improvement of the product line.
- Assist assembly department by assembling and positioning assemblies and sub-assemblies, having close tolerances and critical operating requirements for fitting, alignment, and adjustment of components per engineering drawings and specifications with the use of hand power tools. Checking mechanically for appearance and quality of products.
- Move large products requiring the use of overhead hoists and other handling equipment.
- Work with various materials, such as metals, plastic resins, epoxies, paints, thinners, coolants, etc. requiring the use of jigs and fixtures, test equipment, and metalworking and other power machine tools.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Basic Requirements:
- High School Degree or equivalent.
- 2 years of college or technical training in the electrical field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints.
- Ability to use various types of basic hand and power assembly tools and overhead hoists.
- The ability to work with minimal supervision.
Great to Haves:
- 3 years electrical assembly knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of embedded circuitry and modern control devices such as PLCs, HMIs, and scale instruments.
- Attention to detail and problems solving skills.
- Maintain a neat and orderly hazard free work area.
