Job Summary
This job provides field support and coordinates maintenance, repairs, and upgrades with the locomotive shops, suppliers, and regulators for onboard locomotive systems. The primary onboard systems covered by this position are Wi-Tronix, Distributed Power, Cab Signal, Train Control, and ACSES. This position will monitor the performance of these systems and will investigate and implement corrective measures to improve the reliability, operability, and usability of these systems.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Cab Signal/Train Control support
- ACSES Support
- Wi-Tronix Support
- Distributed Power Support
- General locomotive electrical troubleshooting
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 5 or more years of experience in locomotive electronics
- High School Diploma/GED
- 10 or more years of experience in locomotive electrician working on cab signal and ACSES equipment
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
- 5 or more years of experience in locomotive maintenance
- 5 or more years of supervisory experience in locomotive maintenance
- FRA regulations
- Ability to read locomotive schematics
- Ability to communicate effectively with locomotive mechanics
- Ability to communicate effectively with field managers
- Ability to communicate effectively with regulators
- Analyze failure data and determine root causes
- Understanding of Cab Signal equipment
- Understanding of ACSES equipment and territory

Job Requirements
- Available to report to work with two-hour advance notice
- Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (incl working weekends)
- Hours which include rotating on-call responsibilities which may be outside standard hours
- Wear protective equipment (such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection)
- Work with equipment that intensifies the heat factor
- Work at elevated heights
- Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week)
- Work outside in all weather conditions
