Job Description
The Crewing Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability of qualified and competent marine crew while maintaining compliance with regulations and industry standards. This role requires effective coordination with various departments to manage crew changes, wages, and operational expenditures.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead by example and place Quality, Health and safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
- Collaborate closely with the Vessel Manager, Crewing Agents, and Fleet Training and Development Officer to ensure the timely availability of capable marine crew for designated vessels.
- Coordinate crew change logistics, working closely with the Vessel Manager, Master, and marine crew to ensure smooth transitions.
- Maintain a strong connection with the Finance Department to oversee invoice approvals and track Crewing Operational Expenditure (Opex).
- Serve as the primary representative for crewing matters during Vessel Operations Committee (VOC) meetings, presenting updates and insights.
- Engage with the entire Crewing Department to identify areas for continuous improvement in crewing processes and practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant maritime regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Organizing and coordinating crew changes for marine crew for assigned vessels.
- Ensure compliance with STCW, MLC, CBA, Flag state regulations, and Company procedures as defined in the Company’s Management System.
Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License (Commercial preferred).
- Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Have 3 years or more experience in crewing, maritime operations, or related roles, with a deep understanding of US maritime regulations and standards.
- A collaborative mindset, willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Familiarity with US flag vessel operations and crewing practices is highly desirable.
