APD Desk Appraiser
Job Details:
Physical Job Location: Brownsville, TX (for CA Claims Office)
Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday (schedule may vary)
Job Responsibilities:
Estimate parts and labor to repair damage, using standard automotive labor and parts cost manuals and knowledge of automotive repair.
Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events - Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
Examine damaged vehicles via photos to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, electrical, or interior damage.
Evaluate the practicality of repair as opposed to payment of market value of the vehicle before the accident.
Negotiate agreed repairs with repair facilities.
Determine salvage value on total-loss vehicle.
Gathering Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Performing Desk Review/Auditing of completed independent appraisal assignments, noting approved repair amounts and where adjustments are warranted
Performing Desk Review/Auditing of submitted property damage subrogation demands, noting approved figures and where adjustments are warranted
Report suspected fraud to Supervisors
Assigning independent appraisers to complete physical re-inspections when warranted and appropriate
Edit, update and maintain department spreadsheets
Documenting claim file notes, summarizing authorized repair and/or total loss figures for claims department
Follow California Department of Insurance Fair Claims Regulation via annual training
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bilingual (English / Spanish) required
Knowledge of automobile repairs and repair processes
Must be computer literate
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets
Prior CCC knowledge preferred
Excellent communication skills
